Node.js: Server-side JavaScript Technology

Rising from non-existence three short years ago, Node.js is already attracting the accolades and disdain enjoyed and endured by the Ruby and Rails community just a short time ago. It overtook Rails as the most popular Github repository last November and was selected by InfoWorld for the Technology of the Year Award in 2012.

Node.js is a server side software system designed for writing scalable Internet applications, notably web servers.Programs are written on the server side in JavaScript, using event-driven, asynchronous I/O to minimize overhead and maximize scalability.

Node.js is a packaged compilation of Google's V8 JavaScript engine, the libUV platform abstraction layer, and a core library, which is itself primarily written in JavaScript.

Node.js was created by Ryan Dahl starting in 2009, and its growth is sponsored by Joyent, his former employer.

Dahl's original goal was to create web sites with push capabilities as seen in web applications like Gmail. After trying solutions in several other programming languages he chose JavaScript because of the lack of an existing I/O API. This allowed him to define a convention of non-blocking, event-driven I/O.

Similar environments written in other programming languages include Twisted for Python, Perl Object Environment for Perl, libevent for C, Vert.x for Java and EventMachine for Ruby. Unlike most JavaScript programs, it is not executed in a web browser, but instead as a server-side JavaScript application. Node.js implements some CommonJS specifications. It provides a REPL environment for interactive testing.

If you are a technology explorer like me then I am sure you have heard about Node.Js. This young server side technology is around internet for quite some time now, almost 3 years wow… and I am like following it from its Year One and kind of falling in love with it.

With any new technology come new syntax, new set of rules and so on, some are easy to learn and some are like a strangers whom you never want to meet again.  But creator of NodeJS was thinking exactly the same while designing this technology, why do we need all new stuff and can’t we use some existing stuff and make it more powerful and they thought of bring JavaScript to server. Their are lot of JavaScript based server side engines now like Mozilla Rhino, JSF and JSF based IBM XPages they can also do that too, but this one is actually different… keep reading.

What is Node.js?

Node.Js is a technology designed to develop scalable Internet application notably web servers.  The developer using JavaScript technology to write this application, using event-driven, asynchronous I/O to minimize overhead and maximize scalability. Node.js consists of Google’s V8 JavaScript engine, libUV, and several built-in libraries.

Who is behind this project?

It is designed and developed by Ryan Dahl who made this project open source, now 100 of developer around the web supporting and contributing this project. Currently this project is funded by Joyent a Cloud computing company who is also employer of Ryan Dahl. This project has got tremendous support and specially from Microsoft who is also the sponsor for Node.js. Microsoft is not just sponsor they have helped team to port the node.js platform on Windows OS and not just that Node.js is also one of technology supported by Microsoft’s Windows Azure cloud platform.

(early it was only supported on Linux and Mac which was a pain to install)

How does this work?

Like I said Node,js is a event-driven JavaScript based technology which runs on googles C,C++ based javascript engine V8, which happen to be one of the best java-script engine till date.

Node.js is best known for fast and effective client – server communication, unlike other technology node.js does not uses threads for I/O operations.

If you are using technology (for Example: Java / .Net )  they uses tread for I/O operations when a client makes a server call and a new process is initiated on the server everytime,  these processes has to wait for another process to complete its I/O operations which is internally managed by CPU with the help of treads.  Node.js solves this problem, it can run on single process and makes the I/O calls with the asynchronous callback method of javasciprt,( like an AJAX call made by client application).

I/O would execute the process and sets the callback and proceed with other request, it would make the callback function call whenever process completes the operation which inturn handles by CPU. Client doesn’t have to wait for a servers response, rather in this case server would contact all its clients when it has completed this I/O operations.

This is proven to be most efficient method so far, their is a graph which shows that if your are running a node.js server a single process can handle approximately 10,000 client requests/sec, where as an Apache server with same configuration can handle 3000 requests/sec which eventually goes down( multiple process no doubt, it runs Java…)

Its not just that Google V8 engine has also added a hell lot of power into this technology it also allow you to extend node js if you know C/C++ and create your own modules and library. This makes it as power full as any other web technology available in market.
Who are using Node.js?

Node.js is best combined with HTML5 and can handel server socket communication. This is going to be next big thing in your online communication and chat engines.

Node.js is very well adapted by Web and internet based multi-player games on facebook and other popular platform and even normal web based games like angry birds.

Not just cames in coming days their are going to be lots of mobile OS in making which are going to be running HTML5 based internet application as their local apps starting from Boot to Geko, webOS to new Linux project Tizen. Major chunck of this apps are going to be dependable on node.js … ( why u think Microsoft is supporting it  )

Node is still evolving and making it self stronger day by day. TechGearz is going to have a series of article on how to develop application using Node.js and what are the different tools which is going help us doing this.. so keep reading.

Female Ejaculation

Female ejaculation is the expulsion of fluid by human females from the paraurethral ducts through and around the urethra during or before an orgasm. It is also known colloquially as gushing or squirting, although these are considered to be different phenomena in some research publications.

As I discussed earlier, there are many similarities between male and female sexual anatomy. Some of which make no contribution to procreation. One example is that men have nipples. Another is that women ejaculate.

Just as the male has a prostate gland, the female has paraurethral Skene glands.

Embryologically, the urethral glands of the female are homologous to the male prostatic glands (just like the ovaries and the testes are from the same embryonic tissue.) These paraurethral glands (on
either side of the urethra) are known as the Skene glands (Alexander Skene, MD, 1880.) The Skene glands make up the G spot on the front of the vagina.

Diagram of female bladder and Skene glands

Diagram of female bladder and Skene glands

During sexual arousal, the Skene glands secrete a clear fluid, much like water, having a chemical makeup similar to the transport medium in male ejaculate. There is no urine in female ejaculate.

During sexual arousal, a sphincter muscle where the bladder attaches to the urethra tightens up so that no urine can leave the bladder.

At the time of orgasm, the Skene glands expel the ejaculate down the urethra and out of the body, and thus female ejaculation, simply a leftover from the similarities between men and women.

But for most women, just before an orgasm, the woman feels the urge to urinate. This is actually the female ejaculate building up in the Skene glands. But most women think they are going to pee. Thus,
they tighten up their PC muscle, just as they would to stop a stream of urine. And then when they have their orgasm, the PC muscle is so tightened up, that the ejaculate cannot be expelled down the urethra,
so it is forced up the urethra into the bladder. This is why many women feel that they have to pee after having sex. It is because the ejaculate has been forced into the bladder.

For a woman to ejaculate, the woman pushes at the time of orgasm, as if to defecate, and a clear fluid is expelled out the urethra. This fluid has been described as colorless, clear, or milky. It has never
been described as yellow. The taste varies from tangy, sour, tart, to very sweet. Some women always ejaculate, others sometimes. The majority of women who regularly ejaculate do so in response to G
spot manipulation. Some can in intercourse, and some can with only clitoral stimulation.

But most women do not ejaculate because they have trained their body not to “pee” at the time of orgasm.

If your woman tells you that after every time you two make love, she has to go pee, then say to her: “Well Baby, that is because you have been withholding your ejaculate.” She will probably laugh and
refuse to believe it.

Explain to your woman that female ejaculation is normal and natural. Read to her the book called “The G Spot and Other Discoveries About Human Sexuality” by Ladas, Whipple, and Perry.

Copyright 1982. ISBN 0-440-13040-9. The book is a highly respected explanation of female ejaculation.

You can also show her the video called “Squirters 2.” It is by a pornographer named Seymore Butts. Sure, it is a porn video, but it will show you what is possible, and how far some women can squirt.

The biggest obstacle to get over is her self consciousness that she will urinate. It is very important that you have her understand that it is not urine, but that it is female ejaculate, and that female ejaculation is completely normal and natural.

The motivation you give her is that it would be very exciting for you if she were to soak your bed! She will be concerned about getting the bed all wet, but you must reassure her that it would be very
exciting for you. This is not about you accomplishing some feat, but about her expressing her sexuality in a completely natural way.

In order that you cause her to ejaculate, you must command respect with her. You will be giving her commands to do something that for her seems very strange. Thus, her respect for what you say must
override her own self consciousness and self limiting beliefs.

Ask your woman: “When you get close, do you feel the urge to urinate?" If she says: “Yes, so I hold it in.” Then say to her: “You are holding in your ejaculate. Next time go with the feeling and push it
out.” If she says: “But I don't want to pee on you!” Then you say: “It only feels like you are going to pee. But you won't pee, you will ejaculate.”

As always, assure her that everything is natural and normal, and nothing is embarrassing.

Now for the first step in getting her to squirt.

ShareKey Smartphones

Smartphones and tablets have changed our daily lives in various ways. The increasing computing capabilities, communication interfaces, and apps have made these devices essential in our daily life. NFC-enabled smartphones can be used for access control that provides flexible functionality beyond traditional keys or access tokens such as smartcards. With ShareKey, Fraunhofer SIT has designed and developed a solution for access control with smartphones that offers a variety of features: Access rights can be distributed, revoked and delegated remotely, and can be bound to a usage policy (e. g., number of times an access would be allowed, or limited validity). This flexibility i s beneficial in many use cases, such as an enterprise’s access control to corporate facilities, new sharing services as locker concepts, parcel boxes or car sharing.

Challenges

Today smartphones are complex systems offering various attack surfaces to mobile malware. Hence, the electronic keys managed by ShareKey and corresponding usage policies must be protected without any negative impact on usability and user experience. Further challenges concern the integration of smartphone-based solutions into existing access control infrastructures.

Solution

ShareKey is a token-based access control system for NFC-enabled smartphones. The system allows ShareKey users to be granted access rights and to delegate such rights to other smartphone users.

Access rights can be delegated as QR codes via email or MMS messages, or even be printed out. ShareKey system design addresses the bandwidth constraints of the NFC standard by using resource efficient cryptographic protocols. The signal for opening a door is transmitted via NFC and the lock opens without a noticeable delay.

ShareKey is based on the state-of-the-art security protocols providing high security and flexibility. Further, it considers different approaches to protect cryptographic keys on the smartphone. The system can be integrated into the smartphone platform either purely in software and thus would not require hardware security anchors, or make use of security hardware such as smartcards for higher level of security. NFC compatibility to standards for the contactless smartcards allows for the seamless integration of smartphone-based solutions into existing access control infrastructures. Particularly, ShareKey is compliant to the 14443-4 standard for contactless smartcards which is for example also supported by Mifare DesFire
contactless cards. This enables a step-wise integration of NFC-based smartphones into widespread contactless access control infrastructures. ShareKey is currently being developed for common Android smartphones but is not limited to Android.

Features
  • „„ Easy to use via app
  • „„ Remote distribution / revocation of keys
  • „„ Flexible delegation of access rights
  • „„ Context-based access policies
  • „„ Secure protocol
  • „„ Compatibility with contactless smartcards

10 benefits of pumpkin seeds

Pumpkin seeds are one of nature's almost perfect foods. They are a natural source of beneficial constituents such as carbohydrates, amino acids and unsaturated fatty acids. They contain most of the B vitamins, along with C, D, E, and K. They also have the minerals calcium, potassium, and phosphorous. Pumpkin seeds have mainly been used to treat prostate and bladder problems, but they have also been known to help with depression and learning disabilities.

Considered medicinal for more than 3,000 in different parts of the globe, pumpkin seeds have a remarkable array of health benefits, new studies show. Packed with magnesium, calcium, potassium, iron, zinc, and vitamin K, these tasty treats are rated as one of the world’s healthiest foods.

In fact, a recent study showed that pumpkin seeds, which are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, offer a heart-healthy noshing option by reducing blood pressure. Also known as pepitas, the flat, dark-green seeds may also lower cholesterol, reduce diabetes risk, aid weight loss, improve your mood—and even fight cancer.

Here’s a look at some of the surprising ways this super-squash can protect your health.

1. Fights cancer

A new study published in Current Pharmaceutical Design reports that compounds known as cucurbitacins can help combat cancer--and pumpkin seeds are loaded with them. These compounds have been shown to kill various types of cancer cells and also have potent anti-inflammatory properties. “Taking all of these effects into account, cucurbitacins may prove useful in the treatment of different types of cancer,” researchers from University of Valencia, Spain report.

In another new study, German scientists found that eating pumpkin seeds lowered the risk of breast cancer by 23 percent in postmenopausal women. The study involved comparing dietary data from 2,884 women who developed breast cancer and 5,509 healthy women. The study also found that eating sunflower seeds and soybeans lowered risk.

2. Prostate Protection

Pumpkin seeds are just as beneficial for men, too. Pumpkin seed oil has been used to manage benign prostate hyperplasia (an enlarged prostate). In addition to the oily parts of the seeds, other phytochemicals may also help treat the condition. These compounds can also be found in flaxseeds, saw palmetto berries and soy. According to this study, published in International Journal of Oncology, a dietary supplement containing pumpkin seed may combat the growth and spread of prostate cancer.

3. Diminishes hot flashes and improves mood

Looking for a natural way to cool off from hot flashes? A 2011 double-blinded study suggests that pumpkin seed oil can reduce hot flashes, headaches, and joint pain and improve mood swings in postmenopausal women, compared to a control group of women who were given lookalike capsules containing wheat germ oil. The same study noted that pumpkin seed oil improved women’s HDL (good) cholesterol levels and reduced blood pressure.

4. Lower cholesterol

In addition to boosting levels of HDL, pumpkin seeds contain phytosterols. In one analysis of 16 previous studies involving 509 people, these compounds reduced LDL (bad) cholesterol by an average of 13 percent, while total cholesterol dropped by 10 percent. Phytosterols work by blocking the absorption of cholesterol in your intestines and can lower the amount of cholesterol in your blood. A 2011 study recommended daily intake of phytosterol-rich foods as a natural way to lower cholesterol and reduce heart disease risk.

5. Decrease the risk of diabetes

In the world of super foods, pumpkin seeds are a must-try for diabetics. They are high in iron and heart-healthy unsaturated fats. In animal studies, researchers have indicated that the compounds in pumpkin may be successful in managing insulin levels and diabetes risk.

In fact, pumpkin was so beneficial in improving the health of diabetic mice that the Chinese researchers recommended that its compounds be developed into a new anti-diabetic medication for people.

6. Drive weight loss

Pumpkin seeds may also help you shed pounds. They are packed with fiber and protein—two important components for weight loss. Just one ounce of pumpkin seeds includes five grams of protein, which can keep you fuller longer.

Chow down in moderation, because a cup of pumpkin seeds in the shell contains about 285 calories, along with 12 grams of fat, while husked seeds contain 720 calories per cup.

7. Ease social anxiety, depression—and boost your mood

While pumpkin seeds are great for your body, they can help your mind as well. A study indicates that de-oiled pumpkin seed taken with glucose may be effective in treating social anxiety, and it may aid in treating depression. Speaking of mood-enhancers, a recent report indicates that pumpkin may help increase sex drive as well.

 8. Ease arthritis

You may be able to eat your way to arthritis relief by snacking on pumpkin seeds. A 2005 study found that pumpkin oil reduces inflammation that causes arthritis. Pumpkin seed oil has the effects of indomethacin, a popular anti-inflammatory drug, and offers an all-natural way to treat arthritis symptoms.

9. Prevent osteoporosis

People with a zinc deficiency may want to consider snacking on pumpkin seeds. They are a substantial source of zinc, a mineral low in many people with bone fractures. In just a quarter of a cup, pumpkin seeds deliver 17 percent of your daily intake value of zinc.

10. Treatment of Parasites

They are used in many cultures as a natural treatment for tapeworms and other parasites. Studies also show them to be effective against acute schistosomiasis, a parasite contracted from snails.
